Kyra Sedgwick and Natasha Calis Hit the Red Carpet for The Possession Premiere

Horror movies may never get the sort of recognition that other genres of movies receive, but there's no denying that the really good ones can provide, in the words of actress Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer TV series), an "everlasting terrifying memory." A self-confessed "fan of horror," Sedgwick recently strode the red carpet at the premiere of her own recent entry in the genre, The Possession, in which she plays the mother of a young girl who becomes possessed by a malevolent spirit from Jewish folklore known as a dibbuk.
The young actress who plays Sedgwick's daughter, Natasha Calis (The Firm TV series), was also on hand and she revealed to our own Jeremy Parsons that the scariest part of the movie for her was filming a scene in which "buckets and buckets" of moths were dumped on her. The movie is supposedly based on a true story and rapper-turned-actor Matisyahu said that, while he doesn't really believe in the supernatural, he wouldn't want to hold onto the real dibbuk box. The Possession was directed by Ole Bornedal's (Deliver Us from Evil), from a script written by the screenwriting team of Stiles White and Juliet Snowden (Knowing). Here's the synopsis:
Clyde (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Stephanie Brenek (Sedgwick) see little cause for alarm when their youngest daughter Em (Calis) becomes oddly obsessed with an antique wooden box she purchased at a yard sale. But as Em's behavior becomes increasingly erratic, the couple fears the presence of a malevolent force in their midst, only to discover that the box was built to contain a dibbuk, a dislocated spirit that inhabits and ultimately devours its human host.
The cast of The Possession also includes Grant Show, Madison Davenport and Agam Darshi. It is in theaters now.
