A comedy for grandparents, their kids, and their kids.
It isn't easy getting older. Music gets louder, technology gets harder to understand, and the generation gap begins looking like a chasm. So what happens when the old school is left in charge of the new school? That's the premise behind the upcoming comedy Parental Guidance, which follows Billy Crystal and Bette Midler as two distant grandparents who agree to watch their daughter's kids for a week. Crystal, who also co-wrote the movie, recently revealed that he came up with the idea for the movie after he and his wife watched their two granddaughters for five days.
"On the sixth day I was exhausted and came in to the office and said, 'OK, here's the movie,'" Crystal told MTV last month. "It's a really funny movie that will surprise people with its heart and depth; it's more along the lines of Parenthood than it is something silly. And to me, that was a struggle to make.
Scheduled for a holiday release, the first trailer for Parental Guidance is now online.
Directed by Andy Fickman (You Again), Parental Guidance co-stars Marisa Tomei, Bailee Madison and Tom Everett Scott.
