Today's Hot Trailer Teaser: 12 Whole Seconds of Iron Man 3 [Updated]
10.22.12 by Ryan
Two trailer teasers equal plenty of seconds from the highly-anticipated sequel.
With the access available online, it's hard for studios to keep movie secrets from leaking, but one of the tactics that is becoming more prevalent from studios is the trailer teaser, which offers at least a brief glimpse at the movie before the movie's official trailer drops. Such is the case with Marvel's Iron Man 3, which has it's official trailer arriving on Tuesday, but now has a teaser online that runs for about 12 whole seconds. [[UPDATE: A second teaser now provides even more seconds of footage.]
As revealed at Comic-Con in July, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) will go up against his one of his greatest foes in The Mandarin (Ben Kingsley), who will be somehow involved in the release of the Extremis nanotech serum created by Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce). But, as teased in the teaser, Stark's problems also get personal.
The latest Trailers and Trailer Teasers
First, here's the official synopsis for Iron Man 3.
Marvel’s Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy's hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?
And now, here's the second teaser for the trailer, revealing a brief look at Pearce and some feet that look suspiciously like they could belong to Dr. Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo). Fingers crossed on that one, since the rumor of Hulk returning in Iron Man 3 has already been refuted.
Iron Man 3 is loosely based on comic book writer Warren Ellis' Extremis storyline from the Iron Man comic books, and adapted by director Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) with screenwriter Drew Pearce. The sequel will see the return of Don Cheadle as James "Rhodey" Rhodes/War Machine, Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan and Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts, who looks to be the part of Stark's "personal world" that gets turned upside down. The rest of the cast includes Rebecca Hall as Dr. Maya Hansen and Ashley Hamilton and James Badge Dale co-starring as cyborgs Firepower and Coldblood, respectively.
