"All right. Give me the lesbian and the Indian, and I got a story."
Embark on a journey of discovery with a trio of journalists searching for the man who wrote this classified ad:
*WANTED* Someone to go back in time with me. This is not a joke. You'll get paid after we get back. Must bring your own weapons. Safety not guaranteed. I have only done this once before.
The Flick: Safety Not Guaranteed
The Skinny: The producers of Little Miss Sunshine are behind this smart, character-driven comedy based on an actual classified ad that appeared in Backwoods Home Magazine in 2010. The movie is the directorial debut of former Saturday Night Live intern Colin Trevorrow and screened at the 2012 South By Southwest Film Festival, where it won the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award.
The Players: Mumblecore filmmaker and up-and-coming actor Mark Duplass (Darling Companion) stars as Kenneth Calloway, a stock clerk at a local grocery store and the writer of the ad, who desperately wishes to go back in time to prevent the death of his girlfriend. Aubrey Plaza (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World) co-stars as Darius Britt, the only one of the three journalists able to get close enough to the rightfully-paranoid Calloway. Jake M. Johnson, Kristen Bell and Jeff Garlin also star.
