Today's Hot Trailer: Warm Bodies Sees Zombies Evolve

Zombies don't turn vegan, but that doesn't mean they don't have feelings.
While there's no doubt that the vampire craze isn't over — Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2 is still number one at the box office after three weeks of release — next year seems to belong to the zombie, with romance even being thrown ino the mix with February's Warm Bodies. The premise isn't exactly a werewolf and vampire love triangle but follows a zombie named R (Nicholas Hoult) who suddenly develops feelings for a human woman named Julie (Teresa Palmer) and starts a revolution of feelings among the undead. The first trailer debuted in front of Breaking Dawn Part 2 and already there's a second trailer, which adds more John Malkovich as Julie's father, a military general bent on destroying zombies who doesn't side with Julie's more sympathetic feelings.

Written and directed by Jonathan Levine, Warm Bodies is actually based on a novel of the same name by Isaac Marion, who isn't as pleased with the Twilight comparisons as one would think. "I dislike comparisons in general because they're usually lazy and reductive to both works," Marion recently told The Huffington Post. "Of course I realize comparisons to Twilight are inevitable with marketing being what it is, and of course I'm grateful for any new readers I've gained through that, but Warm Bodies really is a different kind of story."
However, should Warm Bodies become a hit, Summit Entertainment (the same company that produced the Twilight series, coincidentally) could have another franchise on their hands as Marion is working on a follow-up.
I can't really give many details yet, as I'm still getting it all hammered out in my head. In very general terms, it's about R and Julie finishing what they started. Fighting death. Trying to build a better world, and a better humanity. The scope will be wider, but also more personal. R may exhume some memories he'd rather keep buried.
Warm Bodies co-stars Analeigh Tipton as Julie's friend Nora; Dave Franco (21 Jump Street) as Perry; and Rob Corddry (Hot Tub Time Machine) as R's zombie friend M.
