International Trailer and Preview Clip Could Convince Audiences That Tom Cruise is Jack Reacher

To be or not to be Jack Reacher, that is the question fans have about Tom Cruise.
Two trailers in on Paramount Pictures' upcoming Jack Reacher and the marketing campaign has been mostly focused on selling audiences on Tom Cruise as the 6'5", 250 pound, bad-ass, titular anti-hero of author Lee Child's best-selling novel series. So far, the Reacher fanbase hasn't been convinced, but Child has been resolutely in favor of Cruise. "It is puzzling and a little disappointing to me that people are attacking Tom Cruise when they have not seen the movie," Child recently told The Sunday Telegraph. "I have seen the film and Cruise is terrific, he really nails Reacher."

Child's case might finally be made by the latest international trailer. Despite the Japanese subtitles and voice-over, the trailer finally concentrates less on Cruise and more on the movie's story — based on child's Reacher novel One Shot — which finds the former military policeman arriving to prove the innocence of a man accused of killing five people with a sniper rifle.
Convinced? Perhaps the following preview clip from Jack Reacher will convince the doubters as Reacher handles five guys at once in a street brawl.
No doubt, some of Child's more intense fans simply won't give up on the physical differences between what Child described in his books and what appears on screen, but Child still has advice for those still hating the casting. "They should give it a chance," said Child. "When they watch the movie, they might find it odd for the first few moments, but then they'll be sucked in."
We'll find out for sure when Jack Reacher opens on December 21st.
