Which arm-cross will reign supreme?
A man's arm-cross is often indicative of self-importance or disagreement, but a lady crossing her arms can signify any number of things. From dislike to incredulity to self-sufficiency, actresses used cross arms in a variety of ways in 2012. We've nominated our five favorite for the Best Lady Arm-Cross of 2012 Reelzie Award.
It might not have done much in the way of domestic box office, but it's most likely the angry crossed arms of Brooklyn Decker that made Battleship a total of $237 million overseas.
Emmy-winning actress Allison Janney uses a cross of the arms to express incredulity in the comedy A Thousand Words. Though the comedy was not well-received, Janney's arm-cross is second to none.
The arm-cross performed by Jessica Chastain in Zero Dark Thirty is all about self-assurance and confidence.
The lady arm-cross has been used extensively in movie posters, and in the year 2012, no actress did it better than Taraji P. Henson in the poster for Think Like a Man.
There's no doubt about the fact that Jennifer Lawrence was on fire in 2012, and her crossed arms in the movie Silver Linings Playbook were sizzling with irritation and annoyance.
This is the final category for the 2012 Reelzie Awards, but there's still plenty of time to vote. Check out the Awards Watch page to vote on more categories and to get the latest in awards season news.
