Extreme Fans: Watch a Man Eat Denny's Entire The Hobbit Menu in Under 20 Minutes [Video]

Middle-earth's favorite diner is always open.
There has been plenty of merchandising tie-ins to director Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, including a safety video for Air New Zealand, but one of the more surprising was an entire Hobbit Menu at Denny's Restaurants, featuring 11 items inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth characters, including a Hobbit Slam, Gandalf's Gobble Melt, Bilbo's Berry Smoothie and more.
Certainly, Hobbits are known for enjoying their meals, and the same could be said of extreme Tolkien fan and competitive eater Jamie "The Bear" McDonald, who decided to put down every single Hobbit plate in under 20 minutes. And why would he do so? "You have to be able to push your body beyond the limits your mind sets," McDonald told the New York Daily News. "It is very similar to bodybuilding, pushing beyond the discomfort and fatigue."
And push through fatigue he does, as captured in a video of McDonald's eating challenge (via Mashable), which sees McDonald finish all 11 plates, which weigh 9.75 pounds and include 8,610 calories. "The last element is willpower," said McDonald of his eating challenge. "Which I think you either have or don't."
