Movie Flashback: 20 Years Ago Today Audiences Found the (un)Luck of the Irish

Today, Jennifer Aniston is one of the biggest movie stars in the world but 20 years ago she made her theatrical debut in this classic horror romp about an evil Irish folklore character.
Today, the Leprechaun horror franchise is more or less an inside joke, with sequels like Leprechaun 4: In Space and Leprechaun: In the Hood (and who can forget 2003's gem Leprechaun: Back 2 tha Hood) but the whole thing got started with a campy horror flick that turned the icon of Irish luck into a blood-thirsty little devil and marked Aniston's movie debut.
You'd think that starring in a campy horror movie would have doomed Aniston's career but it seems the Leprechaun franchise served as a four leaf clover for her.
English actor Warwick Davis has played the title role in Leprechaun and its five sequels but WWE star Dylan Postl is expected to take over the role in a proposed reboot (which originally had March 2013 release date but the project is currently MIA).
Though the sequels were direct to DVD, Leprechaun was actually somewhat of a financial hit, though the bar was set pretty low. With a budget of under $1 million, the movie earned $8 million in theaters. of course, critics hated it. The movie has an unimpressive 27 percent rating on RottenTomatoes.com
Where to Watch: Leprechaun is available on DVD and on Amazon, iTunes, Google Play, and Vudu.
