QuickClick: Star Trek Into Darkness Trailer Gets "Sweded" Recreation
01.31.13 by Ryan
Last month, the first trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness was released, and it was only a matter of time before the trailer got "Sweded." The concept of "sweding" actually comes from 2008's Be Kind Rewind, where the main characters recreated movies using household props and costumes in place of CGI effects and movie-budget production value, and it has become customary for fans to take trailers for upcoming big-budget blockbusters and recreate them on the cheap.
In fact, the Pasadena, California-based Dustin McLean created a "sweded" trailer for Man of Steel last month and is already back with a new trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness, shot entirely on his iPhone.
For reference, here's the actual trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness.
With a new trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness expected to air during the second quarter of the Super Bowl, looks like McLean will likely be back soon with another "sweded" trailer.
