10 seconds of footage to get you excited for 20 more.
It isn't enough these days to put out a trailer for an upcoming movie. If there's enough anticipation for the movie, a teaser for the trailer is now becoming customary practice for movie promotion. Such is the case with Marvel's highly-anticipated sequel Iron Man 3, which will have a Super Bowl ad air sometime during this Sunday's broadcast, and has a new poster and teaser to help promote the next unveiling of footage.
Of course, the teaser is only about ten seconds long, but features flashes of the principal characters, including Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), James "Rhodey" Rhodes/War Machine (Don Cheadle), Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), The Mandarin (Ben Kingsley and Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce).
While the teaser lacks much action, outside of a familiar explosion in Tony Stark's house, Downey recently spilled a few details about the sequel's action scenes to EW.
"We’ve just been talking about one sequence," said Downey of his conversations with Iron Man 3 director Shane Black. "The top-secret name is the Boot/Glove Sequence, I can tell you that, just between you and me. It’s where Tony only has one gauntlet and one boot and he has to escape multiple captors. It’s really fun, dude. We’re taking everything from his first gauntlet test in the first movie up through the most extreme stuff we thought up for Iron Man 2 and The Avengers and pulling on all of it and making this one big, extended challenge of physics."
