"How many in the air, JARVIS?"
Much of the promotional materials for Iron Man 3 has concentrated on how Tony Stark's (Robert Downey Jr.) life is seemingly ruined by The Mandarin (Ben Kingsley). In the sequel's first trailer, Stark's house is destroyed by an incoming missile while the Mandarin talks about himself as a "teacher." Even the 10-second teaser for the Iron Man 3 Super Bowl ad concentrated on the difficulties that Iron Man will be facing, repeating the home destruction footage while also showing both Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau and Iron Man laying on the ground, injured.
The Super Bowl ad is a reminder that Iron Man is a superhero, after all, and what do superheroes do? They act heroic in the face of danger. Even when a hole rips open in Air Force One.
