"I want you to know that I am both happy and sad and I'm still trying to figure out how could that be."
Journey along with a group of teenagers as they experience love, loss and loneliness while navigating the treacherous waters of high school.
The Flick: The Perks of Being a Wallflower
The Skinny: Stephen Chbosky makes his directorial debut with this earnest coming-of-age drama based on his 1999 epistolary novel of the same name. The movie was initially rated R for "teen drug and alcohol use, and some sexual references," but an MPAA appeals board changed it to PG-13 for "mature thematic material, drug and alcohol use, sexual content including references, and a fight — all involving teens."
The Players: Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief) stars as Charlie Kelmeckis, an introverted freshman who finds it difficult to make friends at school. Charlie is eventually befriended by two seniors — Sam (Emma Watson) and her stepbrother Patrick (Ezra Miller) — who take him to parties and get him involved in theater, which helps him come out of his shell and deal with some of the tragedies in his life that have made him socially awkward. Mae Whitman, Paul Rudd, Joan Cusack and Dylan McDermott also star.
