The Flick: The Fourth Kind
The Skinny: Olatunde Osunsanmi wrote and directed this sci-fi thriller that purports to include "actual archived footage." The title of the movie comes from world famous ufologist J. Allen Hynek's classification system for encounters with aliens, the same system that inspired Steven Spielberg's Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Though not favorably reviewed by critics, The Fourth Kind was a success, earning four times its production budget at the box office.
The Players: Milla Jovovich stars as Dr. Abigail Tyler, a psychologist living in Nome, Alaska, who is forced to raise her children on her own after her husband is mysteriously murdered in his sleep. After conducting hypnotherapy sessions with several local patients, all of whom relate similar stories about seeing white owls and having their homes invaded by creatures, Abigail begins to suspect that an inhuman menace is plaguing the town and may even be responsible for her husband's death. Elias Koteas, Will Patton and Corey Johnson also star.
