"No, it does not sound like it's gonna break. It sounds like it has 700 horsepower. All right?"
Take a wild ride with a bawdy couple who throw caution to the wind to chase their dreams, but find they can't outrun their pasts.
The Flick: Hit and Run (2012)
The Skinny: Punk'd alum Dax Shepard wrote, co-directed (with David Palmer, Brother's Justice), produced and starred in this 2012 action-comedy. The movie made a decent profit during its theatrical run due to its miniscule $2 million budget, but it has had a polarizing effect on critics and audiences alike. Even our own resident movie experts disagreed: Leonard Maltin called Hit and Run "breezy, unpretentious and fun to watch"; Richard Roeper described it as
"crass" and "mean-spirited." Hit and Run is only available on Demand for six days so watch it while you can.
The Players: Shepard stars as Yul Perrkins, a.k.a. Charlie Bronson, a former getaway driver who ditches the Witness Protection Program to drive his girlfriend — played by his real-life fiancé, Kristen Bell — to Los Angeles for her dream job. Things are going fine until the couple cross plaths with a vindictive former partner-in-crime (Bradley Cooper) who has reason to be "sore" with Bronson. Tom Arnold, Kristin Chenoweth and Michael Rosenbaum also star.
