The Players: Belgian actor Matthias Schoenaerts (Bullhead) stars as Alain van Versch, an unemployed single father who moves to the south of France with his 5-year-old son Sam (Armand Verdure) to look for work while training to be a professional kick boxer. While working as a bouncer in a night club, Alain meets Stéphanie (Academy Award-winner Marion Cotillard, La Vie en Rose), a beautiful whale trainer at a local marine park who gets in a fight at the club. Stéphanie has a tragic accident during a show at the park and wakes up in the hospital to find that her legs have been amputated. Confined to a wheelchair and weighed down by depression, Stéphanie reaches out to Alain and finds that his lust for life and lack of pity for her inspires her to live and love again.
