"What they did to me, what I am, can't be undone."
There's a reason why Logan, aka Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) is screaming in the poster for the upcoming comic book adaptation The Wolverine, and that secret is revealed in the movie's first trailer. As seen in yesterday's 20 second teaser, Logan travels to Japan, where he ends up fighting off a clan of ninjas, but the full trailer reveals that Logan is also arriving in Japan to deal with his immortality, something his healing powers allow.
"Where this film sits in the universe of the films is after them all," director James Mangold (3:10 to Yuma) revealed to Empire last October. "Jean Grey is gone, most of the X-Men are disbanded or gone, so there’s a tremendous sense of isolation for him."
That isolation certainly rings true in the trailer, as well as Mangold's description of the movie as a "Japanese noir picture with tentpole action in it." Whatever the result, this easily looks better than 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which is great news for fans. Sound off with your opinion of the trailer in the comments section below.
