Get the Look: Bomb Girls Season Two Arrives with Some Great Fashion Ensembles
04.01.13 by Matilda
Bomb Girls is finally back, and it started off with a bang — literally. After dodging a possible bomb attack, coping with the Allies' loss of Singapore, and dealing with their complicated personal lives, it’s a wonder how these girls find time to get dressed let alone rock the awesome style we’ve all come to know and love. But the beginning of season two did not disappoint, and great style was all over the first two episodes. After a difficult decision of what fabulous outfits to include, we’re bringing you a fashion recap from rich-girl-turned-humble Gladys, Betty who is actually looking a bit more feminine, and pretty girl Vera. Once again, we’re pairing our favorite ensembles with modern-day alternatives so you can get the Bomb Girl look.
Don’t forget to see where the girls' style takes them next week. The second season continues with new episodes airing Wednesdays.
As always Gladys (Jodi Balfour)
, with her wealthy background, frequently appears in an array of beautiful ensembles in both episodes, many of them far too smart to include in a casual modern-day look. However we think her gorgeous '40's coat would fit perfectly in our winter closet and found this similar vintage Chanel coat
setting you back $1,440 — hey, if you wanna look like Gladys you gotta spend like Gladys. That failing, you can also check out this red coat from Asos
at $81.46. Paired with the stunning leopard print fur scarf
at $87 from Saks and this unique Bette Davis style brown leather clutch
from Etsy at $38 you'll be a flawless 21st century '40s girl in no time.
For an authentic 1940's dress in the style of Gladys above we found this gorgeous blue and yellow day-dress from Etsy at $160. The attention-holding shape and unqiue sweeping-side buttons makes it a must-have Gladys-wanna-be wardrobe addition.
Let's talk about Betty (Ali Liebert) and her adoption of a more femine style. While we loved her signature green pants from season one, we are so excited to see her in some dresses. Episode one saw her wearing this cool, pink (yes, Betty is wearing pink) retro number for the fundraiser, and while the style seems less popular these days than other '40s cuts, we found a selection of must-have items. Get the unique (top left) shirt dress from Asos for $83.13 for a stand-out look or go more retro with the green 1940s style shirtwaist dress from Wanelo.com. For a floral look emulating Betty's favorite neckline, we love this ModCloth Parasol for One dress. Oh Betty, please give us more of this.
Vera's style is back with a vengeance, and she brought us cute dress after super cute dress. Our favorite so far has to be her green floral day-dress (as above) paired beautifully with a purple belt around the waist. For a super cute, Vera-style dress, visit Asos for both styles featured. The blue floral dress will set you back $58.10 and the yellow at $41.56.
