The Grudge Curse Continues in New Reboot

Don't let your mind spin too much with this but a reboot is coming for The Grudge, the 2004 horror movie which, in itself, was a remake of the 2002 Japanese horror movie Ju-On. The original, which is to say, the remake, followed Sarah Michelle Gellar as an American exchange student in Tokyo whose life is threatened by a cursed entity that, much like any horror franchise, is continually reborn after claiming its victims.
The Grudge remake was part of the J-Horror craze that started twelve years ago with 2002's The Ring, though The Grudge spawned one more sequel. News of a Grudge reboot first surfaced in 2011, but, according to Deadline, the franchise is officially relaunching and has hired screenwriter Jeff Buhler (Midnight Meat Train) to draft a script.
Sam Raimi (The Evil Dead, Spider-Man) and Robert Tapert (The Evil Dead, 30 Days of Night), who produced the remake and subsequent sequels, will return to help produce the reboot. Whether Takashi Shimizu, who directed both the Ju-On and the first two Grudge movies, will be involved is still unknown but looking unlikely.
