TERMINATOR When Arnold Schwarzenegger says he'll be "back," you better believe him. Schwarzenegger has said for years that he would love to reprise the role of the Terminator and now he has revealed to MTV News that he will return to the role that made him famous in next year's Terminator: Genesis, possibly even as multiple iterations of the classic cyborg. Before you get all armchair geek on the news, let us remind you that this is the "Austrian Oak" we're talking about, so even in his '60s we're pretty sure he could crush your skull if he wanted to. And, as far as the whole robots-don't-age argument goes, well, let's just let Ahnuld explain:
The way that the character is written, it's a machine underneath. It's this metal skeleton. But above that is human flesh. And the Terminator's flesh ages, just like any other human being's flesh. Maybe not as fast. But it definitely ages.
Totally plausible, right? Why not? If he can bleed, why can't he age? With that little nitpicky issue out of the way, here comes the really cool news: Arnold might be playing multiple Terminators!
Terminator deals a lot with time travel, so there will be a younger T-800, and then what that model does later on when it gets reprogrammed, and who gets ahold of him. So it will be all kinds of interesting twists in the movie, but I feel so good."
Terminator: Genesis will be directed by Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World). It is slated to open July 1, 2015.
FAST 7 The show must go on. Everyone knew that Universal wouldn't simply scrap Fast 7 following the untimely death of Paul Walker during production, but the question of how the studio planned to complete the movie without its star has lingered in the air since November. Apparently, the problem has been solved, with The NY Daily News reporting that the production is underway once again. According to a source close to the production, the studio "hired four actors with bodies very similar to Paul’s physique and they will be used for movement and as a base. Paul’s face and voice will be used on top using CGI."
In addressing the return to filming, co-star Vin Diesel wrote on his Facebook page:
Though this may be one of the hardest things I have had to do in my career, I can't help but to think... that it will also be the most significant.
Fast 7 opens April 10, 2015.
I SPY MARVEL More incredible "spy" photos from the Italian set of Joss Whedon's globe-trotting sequel to The Avengers have popped up online, giving us larger, clearer and more revealing images of Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye and Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen as the brother-sister team of new Avengers, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. But, wait, there's more! Someone managed to get on the set of James Gunn's space adventure Guardians of the Galaxy and nabbed some awesome pics of extras decked out in pretty awesome Nova Corps uniforms.
UPDATE: The rumor that Bradley Cooper will play the iconic Indiana Jones has been squashed. Both a rep from Lucasfilm and producer Frank Marshall have denied the story. We have to admit, we're a little relieved.
INDY Love it or hate it, 2008's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was such a tremendous success at the box office that talk immediately turned to the possibility of a fifth movie in the series. For his part, Harrison Ford is ready to don the tattered snap brim fedora of Dr. Henry "Indiana" Jones once again, but creators Steven Spielberg and George Lucas can't seem to come up with a "MacGuffin" to propel the movie. With Ford already looking a bit creaky in 2008, would audiences turn out to see him slashing through the jungle in 2016? According to LatinoReview, the filmmakers are planning for the possibility that Indiana Jones 5 (working title) might not come together in time to use Ford and they are "100% prepared to recast a younger Dr. Jones and ready up a new trilogy." It's unlikely another actor would ever be able to capture the unique spark of Indiana Jones the way Ford did, but one actor the filmmakers have in mind for the role is Bradley Cooper.
ASM2 Until now, we've only seen very small or very blurry images of Dane DeHaan as the Green Goblin in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but EW has posted online an exclusive first look at Spider-Man's number one enemy in all of his grisly glory and it was worth the wait. Far less "green" than Willem Dafoe's version in the original Spider-Man, but far more "goblin," this take on the character is already giving us the chills, just as it should. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens May 2nd.
