Hillbilly Hors d'Oeuvres: Pigs in a Blanket in a Pig Blanket

There's another Hillbilly Movie Night coming up on Saturday, which means it's time for a Hillbilly Movie Snack.
If you’re the type of person who likes the idea of meat wrapped around dough wrapped around more meat, you can be sure of two things. Number one: you definitely have some hillbilly in you. And number two: you totally need to try our recipe for Pigs in a Blanket in a Pig Blanket.
And for those hillbillies who don’t want to have to go out to the carport to use the oven, these can easily be made in a toaster oven.
Pigs in a Blanket in a Pig Blanket
• 2 Tubes of Biscuit dough
• Package of cocktail-size weiners
• About a pound of bacon
• Yellow mustard
Preheat toaster oven to 375° F. Prepare toaster-oven-sized cookie sheet with first a layer of aluminum foil and then a layer of parchment paper. No parchment paper? No worries. The bacon has enough grease that it won’t stick too badly.
Open up the biscuit tubes and cut each biscuit in half. Then use the half-sized biscuits you just made to wrap the mini-weiners. Next, cut bacon slices into thirds and wrap each little bacon piece around a biscuit-wrapped weiner. Place on prepared pan and bake for about twenty minutes, or until the biscuits are a nice golden brown and the bacon looks done. Serve while still warm with some plain, yellow mustard for dipping.
Serves approx. 5 hillbillies or a dozen highfalutin folks.
Pigs in a Blanket in a Pig Blanket can also be made with instant cheddar and garlic biscuit mix. The results won’t be as uniform or easy to make, but they will be awfully delicious. Also, if your refrigerator is also outside, feel free to use a box of precooked bacon.
