Pixar Honcho Shows More of Up
01.21.09 by REELZ
John Lasseter, Pixar chief Creative Officer, recently gave a CES audience a sneak peak of Up, the first 3-D project from Pixar out this May. The new clip appears to have been grabbed by a stealth conference audience member, so it has even more added dimension, like people's heads in the way.
It appears the clip takes us a bit further into the film than either of those trailers, which just focus on 78-year-old Carl Fredricksen and his house getting off the ground with the aid of many balloons. In the new clip, Carl and his young companion, Russell, are no longer high up in the sky in the floating house, as they are in the trailers. The duo is on the ground struggling to drag their high-flying house, via a long rope as if it were a kite, through a forest. Young Russell whines about having to go to the bathroom and the music is ominous. We can't wait to see the whole film and see the magic Pixar will work in 3-D. Lasseter is a longtime 3-D freak; reportedly, he even had his wedding pictures done in 3-D, 20 years ago. We're guessing Pixar's technology will be slightly more advanced than those nuptial portraits.
