Signs that G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra May Not Be Terrible?

The accelerator suits depicted in the G.I. Joe trailer ruffled the feathers of many fans, and Paramount's hesitation to include new footage in subsequent trailers seemed to cement the feeling that the movie had little to offer — that is, until reviews arrived calling off the "bomb squad."
Two attendees at a G.I. Joe screening wrote in to AICN, calling the movie "cheesy, light-hearted fun", and agreeing that "this movie delivers [action]." (Both also said the acting is pretty sub-par, particularly Channing Tatum as Duke.)
Nothing conclusive about two attendees at a screening, but they weren't alone. Collider called the movie "the cartoon come to life", and again praised the action scenes. They even had kind words for those controversial suits:
The accelerator suits were well used in the movie. Many, myself included, thought they'd be overdone and/or incredibly stupid, but that isn't the case. They were just used in the Paris action scene and provided some good moments.
Good news when the most that's been offered by Paramount is another TV spot that merely combines all the footage that came before it. Let's hope director Stephen Sommers and company are keeping the surprises for the theater.
