The Ups and Downs of The Green Hornet
09.06.09 by BrentJS
With all of the inconsistent news coming out about Seth Rogen's live-action The Green Hornet adaptation, it seems madmen are running Sony's PR department. In August, Rogen joked that he was "never gonna make" the movie, only promote it. This seemed merely flippant at the time, but only a few days later the film's release was pushed back, giving credence to his statement.
Things appeared to be turning around when Sony released an official statement listing cast additions that included Jay Chou, Cameron Diaz, Edward James Olmos, Tom Wilkinson, and Nicolas Cage. Then, Disney announced it would release Tron Legacy in time to compete with The Green Hornet's release, stirring up rumors that Rogen's hero picture might get an even later release.
Almost as if in response to the rumors and speculation, the last couple days have seen a plethora of "leaked" pictures from the set of The Green Hornet, including shots Chou as Kato, and on- and off-camera shots of Diaz with Rogen. All of the photos appear to have been taken guerilla-style, but it's also possible that Sony is allowing the pictures to get out to help quiet some of the negative rumors about the production.
