Paranormal Activity Beats Blair Witch Record; Possible Sequel in the Works?

Paranormal Activity has quickly gone from an Internet campaign started by director Oren Peli to a massive box office success that recently bested The Blair Witch Project, becoming the most profitable movie ever made.
With this kind of success, a sequel is practically inevitable, and Paramount Chairman Brad Grey told the LA Times that his studio is looking into making a sequel.
We have the rights on a worldwide basis to do Paranormal 2 and we're looking to see if that makes some sense.
Paranormal has made $62.4 million so far and is on track to make $100 million in the U.S. alone. That's not bad for a movie that was made for only $15,000, and only took $300,000 for Paramount to purchase. But Paranormal could also learn from Blair Witch's mistakes. The sequel, Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2, was a critical and box office failure, proving that sometimes going back for seconds is a bad thing.
