Thanks to the incredible success of the Transformers movies, Paramount Pictures is once again looking to take a toy line and turn it into a feature franchise. According to Variety, Paramount is planning on adapting Mattel's Max Steel line of toys into a live-action movie. Taylor Lautner of Twilight and New Moon fame will star in the title role.
The Max Steel toy line was first released in 1999 and spawned a popular animated series that ran for three seasons. In the series, 19-year-old extreme sports athlete Josh McGrath is granted superpowers when he is accidentally infected with nanomachines. McGrath becomes "Max Steel" and uses his newfound powers to fight crime for N-Tek, a secret counter-intelligence agency.
Screenwriters Chad Damiani and JP Lavin have been hired to pen the Max Steel script. No director is attached to the movie at this time.
