Bryan Singer Says X-Men: First Class May "Supercede" Magneto

Since agreeing to return to the X-Men franchise for X-Men: First Class, Bryan Singer has been talking to everyone about it. At one point, Singer expressed interest in possibly directing the proposed X-Men Origins: Magneto movie, but Singer told THR that First Class could "supercede" Magneto.
This story would probably utilize some of the Magneto story because it deals with a young Magneto, so it might supersede that because this would explore that relationship between a young energetic professor and a disenfranchised victim of the Holocaust.
After an initial draft from Gossip Girl creator Josh Schwartz, Singer wrote his own First Class treatment and brought Street Kings screenwriter Jamie Moss on board to write the script, which comic book fans found curious since Moss has no previous comic book adaptation experience. Singer defended the hiring, saying that Moss was the best writer for the job.
He's a really good writer, and of the writers I met with, he interpreted my story the best and brought the most to it. Because I'm so actively involved in the script development of my movies, I'm very hands-on, I need a certain kind of writer and a certain kind of availability to me. And he fit that bill. He's quite talented.
Singer also says his adaptation of Battlestar Galactica is "looking for a writer," while his Jack the Giant Killer is still slated to go into production before First Class.
Right now that is the plan. Unless there's a problem in the development process. There is a script for Jack; we're in visual development. We've got artwork and pre-viz that we are doing. But you never know how things go.
