Michael Bay Says Transformers 3 Will Be More About "Character"

Director Michael Bay's movies are known for their bombastic, over-the-top pyrotechnics and hyper-kinetic action, typically accompanied by a raucous soundtrack. In fact, his latest, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, while an incredible success at the box office, only scored 20% on the aggregate review site RottenTomatoes, which summed up the movie as "a noisy, underplotted, and overlong special effects extravaganza that lacks a human touch."
Apparently, Bay, who initially said that he wanted to take a break from Transformers, has taken some of the criticism to heart. In an interview with the L.A. Times, Bay said that Transformers 3 won't feature as many robots or explosions as the previous two movies.
It gets much more into the robot character. The last time you kind of met a few of the robots; this time you're gonna get a much cooler landscape.
The screenwriting duo of Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will not be back for the third installment, instead passing the script duties over to Ehren Kruger, who helped write the script for Revenge of the Fallen.
