Harry Potter, Clash of the Titans the Latest to Feel the Avatar Effect

It seems like almost every upcoming movie is going 3-D these days, and now that Avatar is the highest-grossing movie of all time, it's no surprise that other movies want to imitate that success. THR reports that Warner Brothers will convert the upcoming Clash of the Titans as well as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and Part 2 into 3-D. The decision was made after executives saw some 3-D tests of Titans footage, which, apparently, went very well.
The cost of converting the movies into 3-D will add an additional $10 million to each, half for the actual conversion and the other for the 3-D glasses that will have to be supplied to theaters. The move will delay Titans by a week, moving the movie from March 26 to April 2. Titans's main competition the weekend of April 2 will be Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Repo Men. Deathly Hallows Part 1 will still open on November 19 and Part 2 will open July 15, 2011.
With such high-profile movies heading into 3-D, it's only a matter of time before other movies are announced to be going 3-D.
