When the trailer for a rom-com produces more grimaces than laughs, you know the actual movie is probably going to do the same, except for a longer period of time. So it is with When in Rome, starring Kristen Bell and Josh Duhamel.
"Though not as ultra-clichéd as its title, When in Rome follows the predictable conventions of the genre. There's a higher-than-average dose of chemistry between the affable and attractive leads, Kristen Bell and Josh Duhamel. Their likability is the only reason to watch the movie."
— Claudia Puig, USA Today
"...one of those romantic comedies that's compelled to spell everything out for its audience at 10 minute intervals, as if we were deciphering an ancient symbolon at the heart of the latest Dan Brown novel."
— Sean O'Connell, filmcritic.com
"The movie lacks invention and true magic in the worst way."
— Michael Phillips, Chicago Tribune
"...three acts of labored slapstick wrung from an eye-roller of a premise..."
— Adam Markovitz, Entertainment Weekly
