Don Cheadle Says No War Machine Spin-off

Stan Lee has stated that Marvel Entertainment will eventually exploit "all" its comic book characters for a big-screen debut, and considering the success of Iron Man and the potential success of Iron Man 2, a movie featuring War Machine as the central character seems like a distinct possibility. Don Cheadle, who plays Lt. James "Rhodey" Rhodes, aka. War Machine, doesn't agree. In a recent interview with Wizard magazine, Cheadle revealed that Iron Man 3 is more likely than a War Machine spin-off.
People have asked but no one [in authority] has mentioned it as something that's happening. Hopefully, if this one does well, there'll be another [Iron Man movie] with the same people. But there won't be a [War Machine] spin-off.
The way Marvel Entertainment president Kevin Feige talks about the potential Marvel movies, Cheadle could be surprised. Feige told SFX Magazine that a multitude of Marvel characters could be up for a big-screen adaptation.
I love Doctor Strange. Ant-Man is like Whiplash — one of those characters where you're like, "Really?" that we've got a fun story with. I've always wanted to do something with Black Panther. I think what [writers] Ed Brubaker and Matt Fraction have done with Iron Fist lately is great, and the Iron Fist mythology opens up a whole other part to us. I'd love to break into the cosmic side of the Marvel Universe even more — it's kind of there in Thor. J.J. Abrams' Star Trek got me jonesing to do that. It's what I grew up on — Star Trek and Star Wars. I want to do a big space epic. And we've got them in Marvel.
If Marvel is hoping to do a "big space epic" at some point, is a War Machine spin-off very far behind?
