Darren Aronofsky Still Attached to Robocop Remake

The long-rumored remake of Robocop was placed "on hold" in January, due to MGM's financial issues and director Darren Aronofsky's reticence to shoot the movie in 3-D. Despite MGM and Aronofsky's difference of opinion over 3-D, Robocop remake screenwriter David Self (The Wolfman) told ShockTillYouDrop that both he and Aronofsky are still attached to the project.
I'm still involved with it and Darren Aronofsky's still involved with it. He's making another movie right now (Black Swan), but we're waiting for MGM, to sort things out since they're a large corporation and it's a situation where we have to be practical. We're waiting to continue with them, we hope that that happens soon and we can get back to it soon.
Self described the movie as "an origin story" that is "basically a reboot." Self is no stranger to the cyborg story having written the Marvel comic book adaptation of Deathlok, another script that lies dormant.
I don't know what's going with that movie honestly. I haven't talked to the producers recently about that. I did a rewrite on it several years ago and it shows up on IMDb all the time. It's been a long while since I worked on it, but I would love to see that. I love that story and I love that character.
