Tron: Legacy Viral Countdown
Posted 02.17.10 by BrentJS
The San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) has become the summer destination for countless fans of comic books, toys, anime, and related movies. Because of this, many movie studios have made SDCC a major part of their marketing strategies for their movies. At last year's show, Disney's viral scavenger hunt promotion for Joseph Kosinski's Tron: Legacy led a dedicated group of hunters to a real-life "Flynn's Arcade," named for Jeff Bridges' character in the original Tron, complete with stand-up arcade games right out of the '80s and a life-sized light cycle prop.
After being dormant for months, Disney's viral campaign for Tron: Legacy has entered a new phase. Several entertainment sites
received packages from "Flynn Lives" containing an orange "bit" star with the message "/zerohour" that, when added to the end of the Flynn Lives URL used to promote the SDCC scavenger hunt, leads to an animation that appears to be some sort of coded binary countdown. But, a countdown to what and when? Click on the image below and see if you can decipher it before it's too late!
