Is the world ready for the first social network-produced movie? It better be.

LiveMansion.com is a social networking website (a la MySpace and Friendster) with over 100,000 members. Keeping in line with the creative community whose interests it serves, Ckrush Enertainment will be producing Live Mansion: The Movie.
And just what is so exciting about that? Well, Live Mansion: The Movie is going to be the first film produced by a social network. There are 24 finalists for 8 lead roles. LiveMansion.com members earn "producer points" for participating. Over 600,000 votes were cast during the competition for the movie's director.
Actors John Leguizamo (Ice Age: The Meltdown, Moulin Rouge) and Cara Buono (Third Watch, Beer League) will judge the final round of casting for the 8 lead roles.
I was all ready to say something snarky about how this doesn't exactly seem like a very promising concept for a movie, but then Leguizamo went and said this: "I thought it would be a great opportunity to help actors that are trying to make it in this industry."
Damn him, and his generous Latin heart.
