Robert Redford has signed on to direct Against All Enemies, the film adaptation of Richard A. Clarke's memoir about his years in the whitehouse as a counterterrorism advisor. The screenplay was adapted by James Vanderbilt (Zodiac).
Clarke's memoir made waves because he is as a former Bush insider who confirms that the administration had a policy of prioritizing battling with Iraq above threats from Al Qaeda--pre- and post- 9/11.
The script has been floating around Hollywood for a while; Paul Haggis (In the Valley of Elah, Crash) was attached at one point to direct, and Vince Vaughn and Sean Penn are reported to have considered (and declined) roles.
