The Hangover 2 Won't Take Place in Thailand (or Mexico)

The biggest outstanding question for The Hangover 2 is where the sequel will be set, since director Todd Phillips admitted that Las Vegas won't be used again.
Last December, rumors started floating around the Internet that Thailand was a possible location, but this week Phillips told Collider that, sometimes, a rumor is just a rumor.
There's a lot of rumors. There was rumor also that it was going to Mexico or something and neither are true.
While Phillips didn't reveal where the sequel will take place, he did mention when shooting would begin.
November 1st. That's what we're trying, but you know a lot of it has to do with Ed Helm's Office schedule, Bradley Cooper's other movies, Zach [Galifianakis]. Right now our goal is to start shooting November 1st.
That goal seems more realistic now that all three actors are officially signed for the sequel. According to Deadline New York, the landmark success of The Hangover gave the cast a pay bump, going from $1 million dollars for all three collectively to $5 million a piece. None of the actors are doing as well as Phillips, who declined a paycheck for the first movie so the studio would accept the untested box-office potential of three actors in exchange for a 15% of the movie's overall revenue. The Hangover went on to gross $467 million dollars worldwide, establishing itself as the highest-grossing R-rated movie ever. You don't even have to do that math to know it was a profitable gamble on Phillips' part.
