Sony Screen Gems finally released five photos of its upcoming sequel, Resident Evil: Afterlife, which largely depict Milla Jovovich with a variety of guns.
With shooting on Afterlife finished, the movie is now undergoing the 3-D conversion process, which has caused several release date switches. It's now set to open in theaters on September 10.
The sequel sees Jovovich return to the role of Alice, whose fight against the evil Umbrella Corporation takes her to Los Angeles, a city overrun with zombies. Paul W.S. Anderson returns to write and direct the franchise for the first time since 2002's Resident Evil. Anderson served as the writer and producer for the previous two sequels, 2004's Resident Evil: Apocalypse and 2007's Resident Evil: Extinction.
Ali Larter and Spencer Locke return as their characters from Extinction and are joined by newcomers Wentworth Miller, Boris Kodjoe, and Shawn Roberts, who takes over the role of Dr. Albert Wesker, the long-time nemesis from the game franchise. Roberts said that he thinks fans will be pleased with the way his character is handled, admitting that "some fight scenes are taken directly from the game."
