ActionFest: The Film Festival with a Body Count
04.01.10 by reelz
What's not to love about that tagline? Or for that matter, a festival devoted to action movies?
From April 15 - 18, the first ever ActionFest will be held in Asheville, NC, showcasing more than 30 new movies. The festival opens with the world premiere of Centurion — the story of a small group of Roman soldiers that fights to stay alive after being stranded behind enemy lines — directed by Neil Marshall, and closes with an event honoring Chuck Norris with a lifetime achievement award.
Several world and U.S. premieres are included in the weekend's line up, along with special retrospectives and rare screenings of two Norris classics, Code of Silence and Braddock: Missing in Action III. ActionFest head of programming Tom Quinn had this to say about the festival:
It's not every day you get to put together a lineup of nothing but great action movies, and I relished the opportunity. These films are such a blast, and I'm pleased to say we've received nothing but support from all of the filmmakers and distributors we've approached. There is no question that ActionFest is going to tear the house up this year.
The festival's first trailer paints a good picture of the action-packed weekend in store for fans. To learn more about the festival and attending, visit actionfest.com.
