A Week Filled with Iron Man 2 Posters and Other Releases
04.02.10 by BJSprecher
It's been a great week for those eager to see Iron Man 2. Seemingly planned to coincide with today's opening of San Francisco's comic book extravaganza, WonderCon, Paramount and Marvel Studios have been releasing new promotional materials for director Jon Favreau's sequel to Iron Man all week long.
First up, a new U.S. theatrical poster for the movie, released on Monday. Unfortunately, this poster is just a modified version of the international poster released last week, minus the menacing central figure of Whiplash (played by Mickey Rourke).
On Tuesday, a mini-poster exclusive to WonderCon was unveiled that spotlights Marvel's first super-heroine to debut on the big screen, The Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson). Fans attending WonderCon can pick up the mini-poster for free at at Booth #242, while supplies last. The same day, a new Iron Man 2 viral website was launched that promotes the fictional 2010 Stark Expo (featured in the trailer) with a video, digital map of the Expo grounds, concept drawings, and two downloadable desktop wallpapers.
On Wednesday, Yahoo unveiled three new stills from the movie. One is a simple headshot of Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), another features Whiplash and his pet bird, and the third shows Favreau's character, Happy Hogan, carrying the briefcase that we know from the official trailer expands into a stripped-down suit of Iron Man armor. Also on Wednesday, a new Iron Man 2 trailer was released, this time promoting the Iron Man 2 IMAX experience. The Stark Expo is prominently featured at the beginning of the trailer, but only the die-hard fans will notice the few split-second segments of new footage.
On Thursday, the new Iron Man 2 website officially launched. Accompanied by a close-up, detailed look at the Iron Man armor, the site features the teaser trailer, official theatrical trailer, wallpaper and character image downloads and a gallery of still images that includes many never-before-released images.
Still not satisfied? Early this morning, ComingSoon revealed three more new stills from the movie.
Iron Man 2 also stars Don Cheadle as Jim Rhodes, aka War Machine, Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts, Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer, and
Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.
