With the release of director Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass fast approaching, the promotional push for the movie is now in high gear. Two new TV spots for the movie about four non-powered costumed vigilantes taking the law into their own hands have been hitting the airwaves (or the fiber optic cables, as the case may be) lately and Lionsgate has also released two new extended scene clips.
The first TV spot briefly introduces the concept of the movie with Dave "Kick-Ass" Lizewski (played by Aaron Johnson) asking, "How come nobody's ever tried to be a superhero?"
The second TV spot ignores plot and dives straight into the action of the movie.
The first extended clip shows Kick-Ass' first nightly patrol, where he defends a man from a group of thugs. In a scene reminiscent of the introduction of Batman in Tim Burton's Batman, Kick-Ass tells a bystander with a camera phone, "I'm Kick-Ass," which instantly makes him an Internet sensation.
The second extended clip shows the ruthless efficiency of Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage) as he mows down mob boss Frank D'Amico's (Mark Strong) goons. Although he looks like Batman, Big Daddy has moves that you would never see the Dark Knight using. WARNING: This one's just a tad violent!
Kick-Ass also stars Chloe Moretz as Hit Girl and Christopher Mintz-Plasse as Red Mist.
