Zoe Saldana Talks About Her Character in The Losers Plus Avatar 2 and Star Trek 2

Zoe Saldana has admitted that she's drawn to "geek" material, and after the success of both Avatar and Star Trek, she's definitely getting her chance. Up next for Saldana is the comic book adaptation The Losers, which follows a revenge-seeking group of former CIA-operatives. While attending San Francisco's WonderCon, Saldana explained to MTV how her character Aisha changed from the comic book to the movie version.
I felt like we were pretty on, but in terms of the tweaking, we just had to sort of soften her because she's a very violent and very raw character in the comic. She's lethal. She could at any moment dive over to you and slice your throat and then lick the knife. There's a picture in one of the volumes where she kills three or four guys with a knife — a big knife — and then she's licking it. Now, that's pretty awesome, but we needed to keep it PG-13, so there was a lot of polishing that needed to happen, at least for this first one.
Saldana clearly thinks that The Losers will receive a sequel and with sequels coming for both Star Trek and Avatar, it's an understandable confidence. In a separate interview with MTV, Saldana revealed which sequel she thinks will arrive first.
I think Star Trek. Because that one's already going into pre-production soon...from what I hear. But I do think we're going into pre-production starting this fall to start shooting early next year. And I have a feeling — I don't know — that Avatar is going to happen right after.
Saldana's "feeling" is not far from what she heard at the end of last year, when she thought Star Trek 2 would start pre-production at the end of the year, and she admits that she's pleased to know that she will be busy for a while.
The fact that I'm going to be able to get to play Uhura again and the fact that I'm going to be able to be Neytiri is wonderful because I haven't been able to part with them, and the fact that I'm going to be employed for a year and a half makes me feel really good because that means the rent is covered.
And is there anything she's hoping Uhura will accomplish in the sequel? Saldana told io9 she has two wishes for her Uhura character in Star Trek 2.
I can only hope that in this next film there's more depth to the Spock-Uhura relationship. And maybe I'll get to kick some ass!
If she doesn't, there's always The Losers 2. That is, if the movie finds box office success on April 23.
