Hugh Jackman Says Wolverine 2 Script is "The Best"

Despite the fact that X-Men Origins: Wolverine was massively successful at the worldwide box office, earning more than double its $150 million budget, many comic book movie fans were turned off by its plodding plot, often referring to it as "Borigins" in fan forums and blogs. Actor Hugh Jackman's August 2009 announcement that Wolverine 2 would be filmed in Japan and based on "that saga," referring to Chris Claremont and Frank Miller's (300, Sin City) now-classic Wolverine mini-series, went a long way toward getting fans excited about a sequel. It was announced last month that writer Christopher McQuarrie had completed the script for the sequel. Now, for the first time, Jackman has publicly commented on the script.
The ever-affable Jackman did not seem to want to talk about Wolverine 2 when he walked the red carpet at the recent premiere of Date Night. In fact, he practically ran away from MTV's microphone as he was questioned about the movie, but he did weigh in on McQuarrie's completed script.
It's the best one we've had.
Back in September, while in Tokyo for the Japanese premiere of Origins, Jackman announced
open auditions for Wolverine 2. While likely more of a publicity stunt than an actual open call, Jackman did confirm at the Date Night premiere that much of the sequel will be shot on location.
At least part of it [will be filmed in Japan]. You know how these things work. We may not be able to do all of it in Japan, but definitely a lot of it.
Jackman said that he didn't know if the movie would be shot in 3-D or not, but considering the production is not expected to get underway until January 2011 that's not too surprising.
