Jim Carrey's Troubles Continue, I Love You Phillip Morris Gets Shelved

Despite headliners Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor, and some pretty positive early reviews, it now looks like I Love You Phillip Morris may never hit the big screen. The dark comedy followed the true life adventures of an over-the-top gay con-man and his former cellmate, whose true love is fueled and funded by a seeming endless series of shady dealings.
The movie, which had most recently been scheduled for release at the end of April, has had a troubled history from the get go. It was filmed in 2008 and has been postponed four times. Initial word about Phillip Morris' troubles was that it was "just too gay" for wide release. This seems somewhat dubious given the success of Milk and Brokeback Mountain, but then again the previews were pretty far out there (as you might expect from a feature penned by Bad Santa screenwriters Glenn Ficarra and John Requa).
Another, less-flamboyant explanation for the movie's current troubles in the inexperienced distribution company, which had to pull the initial trailer from release after it turned out that they had neglected to acquire the rights to the music in it.
In any case, Phillip Morris' release has now been indefinitely postponed, capping off what's been a less-than-stellar week for Jim Carrey. The comedian just ended his five-year relationship with former MTV host and actress Jenny McCarthy, a breakup that the former couple announced in a series of amicable exchanges on Twitter.
