New Iron Man 2 Stills, TV Spot, Viral Video, Plus Director Jon Favreau on...Donuts?

Though not quite as strong a showing as the previous week's deluge of new Iron Man 2 promotional materials, this past week also saw a number of tantalizing releases. In addition to two new stills, a Chinese TV spot has been discovered that includes never-before-seen footage, and the viral campaign continues with a new web-site and videos. Director Jon Favreau also offered up an explanation for that soon-to-be-famous scene of Tony Stark (played by Robert Downey Jr.) lounging inside a giant donut.
First up, two new stills from the movie. The first one is for the action junkies and simply shows Iron Man getting ready to lay down the law with his patented gauntlet repulsor ray. If this still looks familiar to you, that's probably because it seems to take place just a frame or two after a previous still image released not too long ago. The second new still gives us a glimpse at the softer side of Stark as he has an intimate chat with his faithful assistant, Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow).
Second, a new Iron Man 2 TV spot that recently debuted in China includes a few split-seconds of footage not seen in our domestic trailers or TV spots. Though you'll have to bear with an overly-enthusiastic Chinese voiceover, the movie footage is (thankfully) not dubbed. Look for new footage from the racetrack and from Stark's laboratory, including a shot of his new chest arc reactor, which seems to be infecting his body in some way (fans of the comic book will recognize this as a nod to the "Extremis" storyline).
Next, the Stark Expo 2010 viral web-site that launched a couple weeks ago has birthed a new viral web-site. AccuTech, a subsidiary of Stark Industries, unveils two videos and a press release about the new "anthropo-robotic physical enhancement — "the HazTech Exoskeleton,'" which shows how Stark's Iron Man technology can be adapted for other uses.
Finally, in an interview with the L.A. Times, Favreau offered up an explanation for the hilarious scene from the trailer where Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) asks Stark to "exit the donut."
The idea was, 'What's this guy like the morning after?' 'Where would this guy go if he had a hangover?' And then the answer we came up with was 'He would go to Randy's Donuts.'
For followers of the Iron Man comic books, Favreau's statement alludes to Stark's biggest weakness in the comic books—alcohol addiction.
Iron Man 2 also stars Don Cheadle, Mickey Rourke, Sam Rockwell and Scarlett Johansson.
