Anchorman Director Adam McKay to Direct The Boys?

A Nightmare on Elm Street remake director Samuel Bayer has expressed interest in adapting The Boys as his next feature, the Garth Ennis-scripted comic book series that chronicles a CIA-backed team of superpowered individuals who are tasked with keeping superheroes in check. However, Bayer has some competition for the job in Anchorman director Adam McKay. Bayer expressed his disappointment to FilmSchoolRejects.
It's so funny, I would die to do that comic book. From what I've heard from the producers on the movie is that Adam McKay is doing it. He did Anchorman, I guess. The studio is really hot on him…
As Bayer points out, he does have his debut movie opening this weekend, so he may yet win the job.
Let's have the movie come out this weekend and do really well. Then we'll see how my stock is in Hollywood.
Nightmare might have to do well for Bayer to win the job. MTV spoke to a representative of McKay's who confirmed that the Talladega Nights director is in talks to direct the project.
He's interested and has talked to the producers, but at this point, nothing is close to being decided.
The Boys already has a script from The Clash of the Titans screenwriters Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi that The Boys' co-creator and artist Darrick Robertson described as "faithful" to the comic book. Wanted producer Jason Netter's Kickstart Productions has been developing the project.
