It's official: Stephenie Meyer's fourth installment in the The Twilight Saga is headed to the big screen with director Bill Condon at the helm. Today's news, via a press release from Summit, confirms rumors earlier in the month that he had "emerged as the number one choice."
In making the announcement, Erik Feig, Summit's President of Production and Acquisitions said:
Bringing Stephenie Meyer's BREAKING DAWN to the screen requires a graceful and intelligent hand and we believe Bill Condon is exactly the right steward, having shown equal and abundant talents of immense creativity and subtle sensitivity.
The release also included a quote from Meyer:
I'm so thrilled that Bill wants to work with us. I think he's going to be a great fit, and I'm excited to see what he does with the material.
And a quote from Condon:
I'm very excited to get the chance to bring the climax of this saga to life on-screen. As fans of the series know, this is a one-of-a-kind book — and we're hoping to create an equally unique cinematic experience.
Still unknown? Whether Breaking Dawn will be one or two movies, and if Condon — who typically writes the screenplays for his movies, which include Dreamgirls, Kinsey, and Gods and Monsters — will use Melissa Rosenberg>.
