Batman 3 Gets a Release Date

Fans have been awaiting any solid news that a follow-up to The Dark Knight will be made, and Warner Brothers has awarded them with a release date. According to ComingSoon, Batman 3 will arrive in theaters July 20, 2012, and will compete with Sony's Spider-Man reboot, which opens about 2 weeks earlier on July 3.
The news did not come with confirmation that Christopher Nolan will direct the movie. Rather, he confirmed his return in a roundabout way when he revealed that his brother, Jonathan Nolan, was writing the Batman 3 screenplay. At the time, Nolan said that "the key thing that makes the third movie a great possibility for us is that we want to finish our story."
Deadline also reports that Batman 3 is expected to be released in 3-D, though Nolan's cinematographer, Wally Pfister, revealed last week that Nolan isn't likely to use the format. Batman 3 will be released in IMAX, however, with the sequel included in a recent agreement between Warners and IMAX that will see up to 20 Warners movies released into IMAX theaters.
