Sherlock Holmes 2 Goes to Europe

Robert Downey Jr. called working on Sherlock Holmes a "life changing experience", which explains why he decided to leave the upcoming adaptation of Cowboys and Aliens. Screenwriters Kieran and Michele Mulroney
were hired to write the screenplay for Sherlock Holmes 2 last September, and Downey Jr. told MTV that the writers are taking the sequel to Europe.
I think we'll be abroad. A bit of Paris, a bit of Switzerland by the end, if I'm not mistaken.
Downey Jr. is obviously returning, and surely Jude Law will be along for the ride as Dr. Watson, but what about Rachel McAdams, who played Holmes' love interest Irene Adler?
It's hard to say [who is coming back]. Because Irene Adler only appeared in one of the stories of Doyle's reservoir of activities. But we'll find out quickly.
Downey Jr. also thinks that there is a good possibility that the sequel will be shot in 3-D.
Certainly, if you don't do it as an option, then you don't have that option. If the last six months have shown anything, it's that audiences like options, and they will take advantage of them. And you're leaving a bunch of dough on the table if you don't shoot something in 3-D.
Production on Sherlock Holmes 2 is scheduled to start production this fall, after Downey has finished work on director Alfonso Cuaron's 3-D space thriller Gravity. Director Guy Ritchie is set to return as well, having skipped out on the comic book adaptation of Lobo to work on Holmes 2.
