When Bruce Willis returned to the Die Hard franchise after a 12-year hiatus, many considered it a desperate attempt by an aging actor to revitalize his flagging career. Then Live Free or Die Hard proved the detractors wrong, pleasing fans as well as critics and more than tripling the return on its $110 million budget.
A fifth Die Hard seemed inevitable, especially after Willis said he was game to return as John McClane.
Now, it appears that sequel is underway, with THR writing that Fox is
in negotiations with Skip Woods (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) to draft a Die Hard 5 script, with Alex Young (Predators) producing. In his last interview about the possibility of Die Hard 5, Willis said that he would like to see Live Free or Die Hard director Len Wiseman back at the helm. He went on to say that his contribution to the plot would be to take McClane's penchant for being "the wrong guy in the wrong place at the wrong time" to a "worldwide" stage.
