France not submitting La Vie en Rose for Best Foreign Language Film Oscar?!?!

Although the official list of Best Foreign Language Film Oscar considerees won't come down until tomorrow, we already know that France has opted against submitting La Vie en Rose to the category.
The Edith Piaf biopic seemed the obvious choice considering its performance in both France and the U.S. (it was the third-highest grossing French film in the U.S. ever), yet France will instead be submitting the animated adaptation of Marjane Satrapi's graphic novel, Persepolis.
Having seen La Vie en Rose, we can only say it deserves any award it is put up for. Let's hope they go forward with plans to campaign for Marion Cotillard's Best Actress
